Nora
Age:
6 year old Beagle
Diagnosis:
Lost function of hind legs
Nova, a 6 year old Beagle had suddenly lost function of her hind legs. She wasn’t even able to stand up with help. The best option would have been to take her for a MRI scan of the spine to check for a prolapsed disc and possible do surgery, but the owners where not in a financial situation, which allowed for this.
Treatment:
Since the owner still wanted to give Nova a chance, we started her with Laser therapy, Acupuncture and Physical exercise.
Within 14 days Nova got some muscle tone in her hind legs and she could to stand with some support so that she wouldn’t fall sideways.
7 days further on, Nova started hydrotherapy in our Underwater Treadmill and was able to do little steps and place her paws with us only holding her tail for balance.
6 weeks after the incident started trying and succeeding to get up on her own and do some steps at home. Nova was a dog being always on the move and wanting to be where the family was. This encouraged here to practice walking more and more.
3 months after the incident we where able to stop laser therapy and acupuncture. We only continued with the hydrotherapy for another 4 weeks to get her as fit and strong as possible.
Within 4 months Nova had made a remarkable recovery and was back to running everywhere.
